pneumonia and La Grippe. Buried at Rife. His mother
died Thurs 3 days before of pneumonia and apoplexy.
She died the 11th. John was the oldest son of Andrew
Keefer and wf of Upper Paxton Twp. He was born May 26, 1848
and bpt by Rev J.A. Leisz and confirmed at Zions by Rev F.J. Mohr.
He was age 45-7-18 when he died. He has been working
in Hummelstown for a number of years. He was unmarried.
He was an industrious and quiet citizen and highly esteemed
by friends etc. Member of POS of A and KGE (Knights of Golden Eagle).

JOHN KEEFER, WIDELY KNOWN FARMER DEAD
John Adam Keefer, widely known in Palmyra borough because of
his long tenantry on the farm of Eugene Bowman in the borough,
died on Tuesday in his home, aged 46 years. He had been ill some
time with typhoid fever and seemed to have recovered. On Saturday he
was on the street again when he suffered a sudden relapse, and
since then his life was dispared of.
He was not only well know himself because of his prominence
as an up-to-date agriculturist, but also because of the prominence of
his father, the late Dr. Jeremiah Keefer, who was a veterinarian
for many years in the East Hanover and Palmyra region.
The deceased was a member of the Church of the Bretheren, and
leaves a wife and five children: -Grant, Clarence, Charles,
Mrs. Harry Bowman, and Mrs George Bell, William Keefer of this
City who is employed at the Smith & Bowman carpet store, is a
brother, and another brother resides in Ohio.
